late Christmas

i am prompt on a lot of things in life, but apparently posting on this blog is not one of those things.

gabe was very excited about Christmas. this is his excited face. ;)

we had Christmas at the in-laws, which sounds like it should have a "dum dum dum" after it, but i love my in-laws. we should think of a nicer name for them. like "awesome-laws." i call them momage and popage. --a combo of mom/pop plus part of their last name.
doesn't that sound friendlier?

we had a great time. momage and popage had the whole family at their house Christmas eve. i think it was about 40 people plus kids. it was great!
the best part was our kiddos getting to play with their cousins. they played with foam dart guns for pretty much the whole evening. a lot of the family had not met colalicious and z-diddy, so it was nice to introduce them to their family.

i have tons of great pictures of the whole crew opening presents, but you know the drill...can't post pics of the foster kiddos.

hopefully their status will be changing soon. -january 3 is the end of the 90 days, and after that (if nobody comes forward) we get to pursue adoption! hooray!

we're not even 30 and we already have a 6-person family. i tell people we're on the accelerated family plan.

happy new year. maybe next week i'll do a post about that.

a little late

here's a few pics from our trip up to the farm at thanksgiving. i'm a little late, admittedly, but thought i should post about this before all the christmas pics get posted.

what you might not know is that my parents are basically antique store owners but they don't know it. they have so many wonderful vintage things but they don't think a thing about it. i keep telling my dad he should start to sell some stuff on ebay or etsy but he doesn't know how to work a computer. and he doesn't think any of it is worth anything. hello?! country chic is in, pops.

anyways, while at thanksgiving my dad let my friend amanda jo and i look through his shed and pick out anything we wanted. aaaah, delightful.

we made out with old wooden processed cheese boxes, old buckets, an old gun, and some old, lovely bowls.

we made yummy hot dogs by the fire. it was freezing on thanksgiving day and it felt good to actually need a coat.

this is as much autumn as one gets in texas. yellow leaves.
that's it.

doesn't this cherry pie look delish? the youth at my parents' church made it for a fundraiser. i think it was totally made from scratch. i've made two pies in my whole entire life. i know. i'm quite the domestic diva, huh?

so that's our trip. we are excited about this Christmas. the boys are going to love their presents. we stick to three each. we figure if it worked for Jesus, it works for us. ;)
so i'll keep you posted. stay tuned for cute christmas morning pajama pics.

productivity just might be overrated

so christmas presents have been bought and almost all are wrapped.

i cleaned all morning. not my house, but a friend's. it feels good when it smells clean.

i have several loads of laundry to fold and put away, but for right now...

... i have my feet up. i'm blogging. and i have coffee heath bar crunch icecream waiting.

while laundry might not be done, the floor might not be swept, and the dishes might not be washed, i am here.

and for these 3-7 minutes before the kids wake up from nap, i will enjoy the solitude.

and in case you needed a little pick-me-up today, here's a hilarious picture of elijah.
he's a looker, ain't he, folks?

bridal shower

this is christina. she's marrying our friend cody. she's my new bestie.
after a few years of dating off and on, they are getting married following a 3 month engagement. finally!

recently i hosted a shower for her and thought i'd share some pics.

these are the cupcakes that we special ordered from a local bakery. the icing was HEAVENLY! i'm serious --like it was whipped in heaven and sent to earth for us to partake of. de-light-ful!
the theme was lovebirds. the lovebirds here matched the plates.

the tables had these flower arrangements as well as tulle with tea lights and sparkly jewels in it.
my friends becca and kylie helped host it and i think it was so beautiful!

and just because i know she'll be mortified when she sees that i put this picture up for all the world to enjoy, here's our friend leanna. grrr.

the holiday

we had a great thanksgiving. we went to the farm and rode the mule (a golf cart) and enjoyed really cold weather and looking at Christmas lights.

i have pictures, but i think all of them have a kid or two in them that are not allowed to be posted.

the turkey was yummy, the hotdogs were roasted, the pies were delicious, and the blankets were very snuggly.

we had a great time.
and since i don't have any pics to share at this time from the holiday, here's a random picture of gabe as a rooster.

the house is now decorated and the 2' tree is lit up. i love Christmas. i love celebrating with my family. this is our first Christmas with four boys. this is colalicious' first Christmas with a family. this is a big deal.

i'm gonna put on some bing and wrap some stuff. it's all Christmas, all the time. cider anyone?
